Grounded Healing & Integration Series – Chapter 6

Reconnecting with Your Inner Child

The little one who got hurt and hid away is still waiting—for you.

When we were young, we were told:
“Don’t cry,” “You’re too sensitive,” “Be a good kid.”
So we shut down our emotions and buried our real selves.

But later in life, we find ourselves overly anxious, scared of abandonment, or obsessed with perfection.
This isn’t because we became flawed—
It’s because our inner child is still crying out.

My Own Story:

There was a time when I’d overreact to even subtle rejections.
I didn’t understand why I was “so sensitive.”
Then one night, in a dream, I saw a little girl,
about five years old, standing alone in a classroom corner,
watching others play.

She was me.

When I woke up, I said to her:
“I’m so sorry for ignoring you.
You don’t have to be good all the time.
I hear you now.”

I cried—not from pain,
but because someone (me) finally saw her.

A Healing Practice: Embrace Your Inner Child

Find a quiet moment. Close your eyes and breathe.
Visualize yourself as a child, especially during a moment you felt ignored, scared, or angry.
Where are you? What are you doing?

Now, walk toward that younger you.
Kneel down, and hold them.
Say:

“You’re allowed to cry, to be afraid, to be messy.
I’m here now.
Thank you for surviving.
It’s my turn to protect you.”

Tears may come—and that’s beautiful.
Because this is where healing truly begins.
