Your relationship
with your mother is your first mirror to the world.
From the moment we’re
born,
our mother is our world—
Her moods, words, love, or absence of it
shape how we first see ourselves.
And yet,
the mother-child bond is often the most tender and tangled.
That feeling of wanting closeness but needing space,
of loving deeply yet feeling wounded—
is universal.
A Real Glimpse:
For years, I felt like
I could never do enough.
A single sigh from my mom would feel like a stab.
I thought I wanted freedom from her control,
but deep down, I was waiting for one sentence:
“You are loved just
as you are.”
One day, I finally
asked myself:
“What am I really waiting to hear?”
The answer surprised
me.
I wanted someone—anyone—to say:
“You’re lovable even when you’re not perfect.”
And slowly, I
realized,
I can give that love to myself.
Healing Practice:
Write an Unsent Letter to Your Mother
Take a piece of paper.
Write everything you’ve wanted to say to your mother:
The hurt, the longing, the expectations, the love.
Don’t edit—just let it flow.
When you’re done, read
it to yourself.
Then whisper:
“I hear you. You
don’t have to carry this alone anymore.”
You can burn it, tear
it, or keep it.
But what matters is—you’ve spoken up for your inner truth.
