The Wisdom of the Body: Messages Within Pain
We often see “pain in
the body” as an enemy. It troubles us, frustrates us, exhausts us—and sometimes
even feels like a prison that limits our freedom to live and create. But what
if we look at it differently? What if the body is a loyal messenger, not
here to punish us, but to deliver a message we’ve long ignored?
I went through a
period when my right shoulder was constantly sore for months. I tried all kinds
of treatments—traditional Chinese medicine, massage, even energy healing—but
the relief never lasted. One day, I sat quietly and asked myself: “What is this
pain trying to tell me?”
The answer slowly
surfaced:
“You are carrying responsibilities that don’t belong to you.”
I realized that this
pain was my body’s way of saying: you’ve unconsciously taken on too much—for
your family, your team, your past self. The burden exceeded what my body could
hold. And my body—like a wise friend waking me up—had no choice but to express
it through pain.
Since then, I’ve
started practicing body awareness. I ask each tight spot:
“Who are you? Where did you come from? What do you want me to know?”
Sometimes the answers
come with emotion. Sometimes, a quiet image or a fleeting memory.
Each place that hurts
often hides a piece of you that was once neglected.
You don’t need to fix
it all at once. Just begin by seeing it.
That’s where healing begins.
