Chapter 26 | “The New Language of Love”

Loosen the Tightly Held Hand

When I was little, I feared rushing rivers.
I believed as long as I held Dad's hand tight, I wouldn’t be swept away.

One afternoon, we stood by a calm stream.
The sunlight was gentle, the stones warm, but I still clenched his hand tightly, sweating with tension.

Suddenly, he let go and said,
“Try standing on your own. You’re steadier than you think.”

I panicked, but didn’t fall.
The water moved around me.
It wasn’t as scary as I thought.
It actually helped carry away my fear.

Some things don’t require a tight grip to feel safe.
Some paths don’t need control to go smoothly.
We hold too tightly and forget the river is helping us flow forward.

Control often comes from fear.
But true strength is born of trust.
Trust that life has its timing.
Trust that you’ll arrive exactly where you need to.

The soul whispers:
“You can let go now.
The river has always been holding you.”

Next time you're about to grip tightly —
what if you loosened... and felt lighter?
